Ms. Johnson is an amazing teacher and we are so fortunate our daughter was in her classroom. When I think about why am I thankful for Mrs Johnson-it is all the little things that add up to make her a larger than life influence to her students. She shows up and runs every Friday morning and holds the “marathon” banner when students reach a milestone and cheers and encourages them along the way. She is observant and dialed in to what each student needs, one solution for one child is not a solution for another child. She makes sure to educate and have at hand alternatives to help the students who struggle staying focused. She never stops until she finds an option that is a win win for the student. When our school closed in March and we transitioned to all virtual, she pivoted and embraced the new method of learning. Monday’s, Wednesday’s, and Fridays she made videos to greet the students as they logged in for the day. Tuesdays and Thursdays she hosted in person virtual meetings. Considering the circumstances and lack of time to prepare for such a major learning environment change: in person to virtual-she made sure to include aspects of the school day for routine and comfort to the students. She recorded book read out louds. She posted video responses back to assigments and/or acknowledged and commented on every piece of homework turned in. She continued to be the strength for her students. Thank you Ms. J!
