DIY Felt Picnic Activity
Don’t get stuck with nothing to do. This magnetic DIY Felt Picnic Activity is the perfect afternoon craft for fun on the front of your fridge!
Supplies:
- Felt Fabric Sheet Assorted Color Pack (12”x8”)
- Magnetic Sheets (4”x6” pieces)
- Scissors (adult assistance)
- Hot Glue Gun (adult assistance)
- Pen or Pencil
- Paper (8.5”x11”)
STEP 1:
To start, let’s decide what we’re packing for our picnic! Draw your favorite foods and drinks on a piece of paper. We’ll use these as stencils for the next step. Don’t forget to also draw your picnic basket or lunch box!
STEP 2:
Adults, get those scissors ready! Cut out the foods your littles drew on the paper in Step 1. Then, use them as stencils to cut out the same shape on the felt fabric sheet. Let your littles decide what colors to use for each of the different foods they’re packing! Also, make sure to cut out each of the items that make up one food separately. For example: If you’re making an Apple Juicy Juice Box, be sure to cut out an apple and then a juice box.
STEP 3:
Here’s where the magic happens. Grab your trusty hot glue gun and glue each of the separate felt pieces of each of the foods together. For example: If your little one made an Apple Juicy Juice Box, glue the apple to the front of the box shape and the straw to the top.
STEP 4:
Almost done! Take your adhesive magnet sheet and cut strips to fit the back of each of your picnic items, including the basket. If you don’t have an adhesive magnet sheet, just use the glue gun to glue the magnet to the back of the felt instead.
STEP 5:
Lunch is served! Make space on the front of your refrigerator (or any location with a magnetic surface) to stick your basket and pack up your perfect lunch!
