Total craft time: 2+ days
Supplies:
- Dry powder hobby plaster (available as Plaster of Paris* at most craft or hardware stores)
- Tempera paint (any colors)
- Fruit-shaped silicone mold (available from a variety of online retailers)
- Disposable plastic cups
- Plastic spoons
- Measuring cup
- Paper towels (for cleaning up)
NOTE: Do not pour any plaster down the drain as it can ruin your pipes. Please follow all guidelines as outlined on the plaster container.
Step 1:
Take a plastic cup and fill each one with ¾ cup of water. Do this for as many colors as you’d like to make.
Step 2:
Now add your desired paint colors into each water filled cup. Add ¼ cup of paint into each cup, don’t worry about mixing them.
Step 3:
Pour 1 cup of plaster of paris into each cup of water and paint.
Step 4:
Once you’ve added all of this, it’s time to start mixing it together. Take a plastic spoon or craft stick and stir each cup well, be careful not to spill any! Make sure you keep cleaning supplies on hand for any mixing messes.
Step 5:
Once you’ve mixed all the paint well, pour the mixtures into the silicone molds. If you want to layer your colors, pour the first color in and add the second or third on top. Make sure to use a paper towel to wipe up the edges.
Step 6:
Now that you’ve poured them, let your molds dry for 24 hours before carefully popping them out . Let them continue to dry outside the molds for another 24 hours.
Step 7:
Now go and turn the sidewalk into your canvas!
