Father’s Day Card: Vinyl Record

Father’s Day will be here before you know it. It’s the perfect time to help your kids show how much they appreciate their dad, granddad, and all the other father figures in their life. This vinyl record card is a great way to tell dad just how much he rocks!

Materials:

  • 4 sheets of cardstock (1 black sheet, 1 white sheet, and 2 of any color)
  • Pencil
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue sticks

Step 1:

First, you’ll have to create your album cover. Fold about a ½ inch crease along the edges on 3 of the 4 sides of the paper.

Step 2:

Next, trace glue along the narrow folds you just made, this will help you keep your sleeve together.

Then, take the other piece of paper that’s the same color and line up the edges before lightly pressing them together. You should have made a narrow sleeve.

Step 3:

Now we have to turn our rectangular sleeve into a square sleeve. Take the open end of your sleeve and cut off a few inches to create an even square. Don’t forget to trim off any excess paper at this point too!

Step 4:

Now it’s time to make your record by cutting a circle out of black cardstock. Make sure your “record” isn’t bigger than the sleeve.

Step 5:

Then cut a white circle, make sure it’s smaller than the black record you cut, but you’ll want it to be big enough to write on. Glue this onto the black circle to make the record label. Finally, draw a small black circle into the middle of the white label as the “hole” in your record.

Step 6:

Now it’s time for the album art! Have your kids cut out cool shapes and designs and glue them onto your album cover.

Step 7:

Finally, help your kids write a special message to dad on the inner record label.
